Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Awaken the Beauty of Your Breasts

What Is Breast Lift ?

Breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure aiming to elevate, reshape and tighten the breasts by correcting sagginess of the breast tissue that may occur with age, after pregnancy, or due to weight fluctuations. Breast ptosis is characterized by a saggy breast with, in most cases, the nipple-areolar complex pointing downwards. If you feel that your breasts have become saggy or drooping (seins tombants), this surgery helps achieve higher, tighter, and better-proportioned breasts while respecting the natural contours of the body.

Why considering Breast Lift ?

Correction of Saggy Breasts

Mastopexy is particularly beneficial for women with saggy breasts that have lost their elasticity. By repositioning the breast tissue at the right height on the chest wall and elevating the nipple-areola complex at the center of the breast mound, this intervention restores the anatomical architecture of the breasts and contributes to creating a more flattering decolleté.

Restoration of Firmness and Shape

Over time, factors such as aging, pregnancy, or weight loss can lead to breast ptosis often accompanied by skin laxity that alters the shape of the breasts. Mastopexy improves firmness and restores the natural shape of the breast, resulting in a more youthful and toned appearance.

Enhancement of Self-Confidence

Many women choose mastopexy to feel better in their bodies and improve their self-esteem. This procedure allows them to regain a more harmonious silhouette and feel more in tune with their personal image.

How does it work ?

Personalized Consultation

Before the procedure, a consultation with the surgeon is necessary to assess the needs and expectations of the patient. After an open and relaxed discussion about motivations, preferences, and concerns, the surgeon evaluates the breasts to establish an appropriate treatment plan. Additionally, information and explanations will be provided regarding the breast lift procedure, pre- and post-operative instructions, as well as benefits and risks. Depending on the case, pre-operative tests may be prescribed. Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically lasts between 2 to 3 hours.

Procedure Steps

Mastopexy can be performed using 3 different techniques, which vary in the location and number of scars. The choice of technique depends on the size of the breasts and the degree of breast ptosis:

  • Areolar Lift using the Crescent Lift Technique: Involves a single scar located around the Upper Hemi-areola.
  • Lollipop Breast Lift: Characterized by a scar around the areola and a second vertical scar.
  • Inverted T-Shaped Technique (Anchor Lift): Involves a circular component around the areola, a vertical scar between the areola and the infra-mammary fold, and a horizontal scar placed in the infra-mammary fold. During the surgical procedure, the surgeon will remove excess tissue (mostly skin), raise the breast mound and the nipple into their normal position for a reshaped and defined contour.

What happens next ?

Immediate Recovery Phase

After the procedure, a supportive bra is generally recommended to support the breasts and facilitate healing. This bra should be worn for 6 to 8 weeks. Pain similar to soreness may be experienced in the breast area, and pain relief medications may be prescribed to manage discomfort. Mild swelling and bruising are common and should gradually subside.

Return to Social Life

A social rest period of 10 to 14 days is recommended for proper recovery. It is advised to avoid intense physical exertion, such as lifting heavy objects or engaging in sports, for about 6 to 8 weeks following the operation.

Follow-Up and Healing

Follow-up consultations with the surgeon are important to monitor healing and ensure recovery is proceeding correctly. Scars will gradually fade and can be treated with healing creams to improve their appearance.

Final Results

The final results after Breast Lift typically become visible after 6 months to 1 year, once tissues stabilize and scars fade. The breasts will be tighter, raised in the normal position, and matching patient's expectations.

Tips for Optimal Recovery

Avoid direct sun exposure on the scars to prevent pigmentation. Maintain a balanced diet and avoid smoking to promote optimal healing. Follow the surgeon's recommendations regarding wearing the supportive bra and activities to avoid during the recovery period. By adhering to these guidelines and having realistic expectations, patients can achieve significant improvement in their silhouette and self-confidence after mastopexy.
